Tribe Administrator
Penelakut Tribe
The Penelakut Tribe is seeking a Tribe Administrator for a full time employment position. The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of the finances, administration, economic development, human resources, program delivery and services of the Penelakut Tribe to ensure that the needs of the members are met in a reasonable, effective, and efficient manner.
Duties
Reporting to the Chief and Council, the Tribes Administrator will oversee all operations of the Penelakut Tribe as follows:
Manage all operations for the Tribe.
Manage financial operations.
Manage and supervise staff.
Manage the delivery of programs and services.
Manage economic development activities.
Coordinate community development activities.
Provide Band Council support and administration.
Qualifications – Knowledge and Skills
The incumbent must :
Have an understanding of relevant legislature, policies and procedures including the Indian Act.
Have an understanding of governance, including the roles and responsibilities of Boards.
Have an understanding of culture, First Nations history, and the political environment.
Demonstrate team leadership and management.
Demonstrate financial management skills.
Demonstrate supervisory and human resources management.
Demonstrate business, contract and agreement management skills.
Demonstrate strategic planning, analytical and problem solving, decision making, and negotiation skills.
Demonstrate effective communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, policies, funding proposals,
Demonstrate highly proficient effective computer skills including the ability to operate spreadsheets and word processing
Demonstrate effective public relations and public speaking skills.
Demonstrate research and program development skills.
Demonstrate effective time and stress management skills.
Experience working with First Nations communities and or non profit organizations.
Remuneration will be dependent on background, experience and current funding availability.
