An Invitation . . .
. . . . to all Penelakut Tribe members, their families and friends, a farewell ceremony for World Drum will be held on Thetis Island at the Community Centre on Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 2 p.m. – 5.p.m.
World Drum was envisioned by a Sami traditional shaman in Norway and was called into life by a Sami medicine man and drum maker. World Drum has been travelling around our planetary home since 2006, It has been part of many ceremonies that have changed people’s lives and perceptions.
The purpose of the World Drum vision is to remind us of, and connect us to, the interdependence and interconnection between people and the earth beyond religion, race, colour and borders.
Roy Holloway, who resides on Thetis Island, is guardian of World Drum from July 31 2010 until August 15, 2010, and will be carrying Drum to various locations and hosts as Drum is requested for ceremonies. If you would like World Drum to journey to Kuper, Roy’s phone number in 250-701-1317.
The Farewell Ceremony for World Drum on Thetis will be followed by a potluck feast. Please bring your drum, rattle and medicine bundles, along with an offering for the prayer tree. There will also be supplies on hand to make a prayer offering at the ceremony.
Be sure to wear comfortable outdoor clothing and bring water and a snack. You may also like to bring a pillow or blanket for sitting on the ground. If you need transportation from the ferry, or more information, let us know.
